FOR LS ENTHUSIASTS, BUILDERS & fans
Follow a real, in-house engine build from start to finish.
One participant will receive the completed short-block through a community promotional drawing.

This playlist documents the 6.2 LS Short-Block Community Build from start to finish at Owens Racing Engines. Follow along as we walk through the real machining, measuring, and assembly steps that go into building a reliable LS foundation — all performed in-house using the same standards applied to our retail customer builds.
These videos are not highlight reels or shortcuts. They show the actual process, the decisions made along the way, and the craftsmanship behind a properly built short-block. Whether you’re participating in the community build or simply want to learn more about what goes into quality engine work, this playlist offers an inside look at how we do it.
New videos will be added as the build progresses.
We’ll be doing occasional T-shirt drawings for people who follow, share, and engage with the Community Build. No purchase required — just be part of the conversation and follow along as the build progresses.
No purchase or sponsorship is required. These drawings are simply our way of saying thank you to the community following this build from start to finish.
Drawing details and winners will be announced on our website and social channels as they take place.

This isn’t a crate engine or a mystery box. We’re machining and assembling a 6.2 LS short-block in-house, using the same standards and measurements we apply to our retail customer builds.
Participation is limited, squares are assigned after confirmation, and the drawing will be held live once the board is full.

Owens Racing Engines has always been about more than just building engines — it’s about the people behind them. The racers, builders, weekend wrenchers, and followers who appreciate doing things the right way, even when it takes more time and effort.
This community build is our way of giving something back.
Not everyone has the budget to commission a full custom engine build, but everyone should have access to a solid, professionally built foundation. By opening this project to the community, we’re creating an opportunity for someone to own a 6.2 LS short-block built in-house, with the same care, measurements, and standards we use every day.
We’re also doing this to be transparent. Too often, engine building feels like a black box. With this build, we’re showing the process — the machining, the measurements, the decisions — so people can see what actually goes into a quality short-block.
Finally, we’re doing this because this shop exists today because of community support. This build lets us grow that community, engage with it in a meaningful way, and keep the craft of proper engine machining alive and visible.
Built once. Built right. Built together.
A big hammer is no longer necessary to install camshaft bearings. Bonefied Customs in Lowell, Michigan, has developed an installation tool that uses an integrated hand-operated hydraulic pump that gently inserts the bearing into its respective bore
in the cam tunnel.

Thank you for supporting our Community LS Build.
